CVSTOS GUSTAVE EIFFEL CHRONOGRAPHE GMT

With this new creation, CVSTOS pays tribute to Gustave Eiffel, the French visionary engineer who has created more than 300 structures all over the world including the iconic Eiffel Tower of Paris.

This is the third creation from the watchmaking house to honour Gustave Eiffel. In 2014, the Swiss watch brand created GUSTAVE EIFFEL timepiece and in the following year the GUSTAVE EIFFEL TOURBILLON, both taking their design inspiration from the legendary Eiffel tower.

Following the lines of the famous Tower Eiffel, with the tonneau-shaped middle (very finely carved, requiring 45 minutes to process only the motives), the “CVSTOS GUSTAVE EIFFEL” has a structure akin to the Parisian elegance, inspired by the famous Cross of Saint Andrew, a symbol of rigidity, transparency, and lightness alike.

The “Gustave Eiffel CHRONOGRAPHE GMT” is equipped with a new automatic high efficiency chronograph mechanism (CVS-3081/GMT-24H), characterised by its bimetallic rotor of Tungsten 88 & Titanium Grade 5.

From the same spectacular and unexpected perspectives, this new CVSTOS calibre is created under the name “CVS-3081/GMT-24H” with a power reserve of 48 hours, automatic movement designed in the same aesthetic vein and motives inspired from Gustave Eiffel’s principles.

Three-dimensional display of the instant reading of time is made by hour/minute, sword-shaped hands, while the display of the second GMT time zone uses an arrow-shaped hand (Orange de Paris). Daytime and nighttime visibility of each hand is optimised by a generous surface coated with luminescent material.

The counter discs remind of the drive wheels of the Tower lifts’ cables. The minute-counter hand at 12 o’clock, as well as the hour-counter hand at 6 o’clock, are finely carved and perforated to reveal the mechanisms, the various functions of the movement, such as the cog of the date disc toothing and their respective bouncers.

The transparency magnifies by a bimetallic skeleton dial; at 3 o’clock we can also admire the reading quality of numerals indicating the date, through a finely laser-cut aperture offering reading by interplay of transparency.

Daytime and night time reading comfort is facilitated by large embossed metallic indexes, coated in their centre, by luminescent material indicating the hourchapter surrounded by a tonneau-shaped flange divided in 24 indexes colour “Orange de Paris”, for the display of the GMT function.

Carved out of 316-L steel, PVD bronze or 5N pink gold treated steel, the tonneau shaped case is admirably emphasised by the purity of its lines and volume. This polished architectural work, easily identifiable amidst all, contributes to CVSTOS’ aesthetic distinction in the closed world of luxury watchmaking.

With up to 100 meters water resistance, the “CVSTOS GUSTAVE EIFFEL CHRONOGRAPHE GMT” is available in fine alligator leather in various colours, which is lined with ALCANTARA® leather, with a specific look dedicated specifically to this model. This classical bracelet is also available with an elegant buckle.
