Casio OCEANUS OCW-G1100C

Casio presents the OCW-G1100C, a new addition to the OCEANUS line of metal watches designed to capture the essence of elegance and technology. The new watch features solar and GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technologies and is inspired by a stratospheric view of the awe-inspiring color transitions in Earth’s atmosphere.

OCEANUS is a line of solar-powered titanium metal watches offering sophisticated design and advanced functionality. The OCW-G1000 and OCW-G1100 are both equipped with GPS and standard time signal reception technology. Since this feature gives users the correct local time wherever they go, these watches have become especially popular among global business travelers.

Based on the OCW-G1100, the new OCW-G1100C boasts a look inspired by a stratospheric view of Earth’s blue atmosphere as it gradually merges into the darkness of space. The watch’s color palette includes black to evoke the vastness of the universe, clear blue to suggest the sky, and white to represent the clouds blanketing our planet.

The right side of the two-color molded ceramic bezel, which indicates time zones ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), is accented in blue, while the left side, indicating time zones behind UTC, is rendered in black. Since it is made of ceramic, the bezel offers outstanding wear resistance and a super smooth feel.

The dial represents a further evolution in the representation of OCEANUS blue. The gradation of blue and white evokes a transition from clear blue sky to pristine white clouds. Rendered in mother-of-pearl, the indicator in the two o’clock position represents a sea of cloud cover.

Recrystallized blue sapphires have been placed in the crown and the axis of the second hand, while the 12 o’clock index marker is conspicuously large, evoking a satellite motif. With design accents such as the recrystallized blue sapphire on the second hand axis as well as the gold color on the second hand suggesting a meteor, the new model offers a luxury feel with a refreshing color palette.

The new OCW-G1100C is packed with advanced technology, too. It not only includes solar and GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technologies, but also comes with a Dual Coil Motor, which enables the watch hands in the inset dial at the 6 o’clock position to move at high speed both clockwise and counter clockwise. As a result, the time shown in the dial can change quickly whenever world time functions are used.

Moreover, the speed of the moving hands is regulated for an interesting effect, adding to the pleasure of wearing this watch. This premium watch, produced using the sophisticated manufacturing technologies of Casio Yamagata Factory in Japan, combines high functionality with playful design and usability.
