The redesigned Oris Artelier Chronometer, Date, is an homage to the timeless values of Swiss watchmaking and a contemporary interpretation of one of the company’s most iconic lines.
The case is 40mm in diameter, and slimmer and more tapered than previous versions, in line with the demands of today’s consumers for lighter, more elegant designs.
In contrast to the new watch’s silhouette, the dial is finished using a traditional technique known as “guillochage”, an engraving process that creates a patterned, eye-catching decoration.
The particular finish chosen by Oris’s designers is inspired by the Art Deco movement, as are the watch’s slim-line, rose gold-plated hands and indices. Art Deco is enjoying a revival, and its forms give a playful twist to the dressy aesthetic of the Artelier.
Inside beats Oris Calibre 737, a chronometer-certified movement based on Sellita’s SW 200-1. To achieve chronometer status, each movement has been individually tested at the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) for 15 days, in five positions and at three different temperatures.
COSC guarantees accuracy to within -4 and +6 seconds a day and supplies a certification number with each unit. This exceptional movement is visible through the case back.
The new watch is available on either a dark brown leather strap or a metal bracelet that’s been modified by Oris’s engineers to have flatter and slimmer links to complement the new case.
