After the successful launch of Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater in 2014, prestigious Swiss watch manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre now adds a tourbillon complication to its highly feminine Rendez-Vous Ivy line of timepieces. In this new creation, the tourbillon displays the high-level mechanics of its mobile carriage. It rotates once a minute, thus compensating for variations in rate due to gravity, whatever the position of the wrist.
The opening reveals this emblematic watchmaking complication is emphasised by a row of diamonds. The ivy motif appears to surge from the tourbillon to bloom on the dial, thus playing a key role in the stage setting of the watch face. Like a radiating girandole composition with the tourbillon at its heart, ivy leaves unfold in swirls. At 3, 6 and 12 o’clock, the “tree” ends with the hour numerals that are so characteristic of the Rendez-Vous Collection, blooming like slender flowers in a stylised bouquet.
Two types of guilloché work are used on this piece: a classic variety on the surface of the dial, along with a plant life-effect guilloché pattern that recreates the veins of the ivy. Jaeger-LeCoultre chose an elegant, contemporary plum shade to enhance the complication as well as the organic lacework decoration.
Highlighted by translucent enamel, this colour lights up further with the sparkle emitted by the setting of the bezel, lugs and crown. Accentuating the sophistication of this creation in white gold, the case middle as well as part of the bracelet buckle, are also set with gems. The Rendez-Vous Ivy Tourbillon is powered by Calibre Jaeger-LeCoultre 978 providing the comfort of an automatic movement. Its 39 mm diameter ensures a pleasant feel on the wrist.
