Just months after revisiting the original a first time, the 1931 Small Second model from Louis Erard returns with yet another interpretation in a limited edition.
The 1931 spirit remains intact; the innovation lies with the dial and the presentation box, though without straying from the original design. This time the dial is black, at the opposite end of the spectrum to the silver colour of the previous version.
Twelve rounded Arabic numerals set the tempo for silvered hands, driven by an automatic calibre whose oscillating weight comes decorated for the occasion.
Then as now, sobriety is the key. And one frivolous touch in the small seconds dial offset at 9 o’clock. Despite its vintage lineage, the Small Second is very much part of the moment.
Only 500 will be made, each individually numbered: a watch for the few. Both are delivered in a unique presentation box with, for the black dial version a very special writing instrument – a Montegrappa pen – while the silver dial comes in a box that also contains red wax, a seal and vintage paper.
