The Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Extreme is dedicated for those men who choose to push boundaries and explore the extremes of human performance.
The case and bezel of the Pontos S Extreme are constructed of POWERLITE®, a unique alloy exclusive to Maurice Lacroix. The innovative material is three times lighter than steel but twice as hard. POWERLITE® is an alloy consisting of five elements: aluminium, magnesium, titanium, zirconium and ceramic. The alloy is anodised, an electrolytic chemical process through which pigments are inserted into the pores of the material. This treatment has been tried and tested in the automotive and aeronautical industries. By modifying the alloy in this way, the structure of the metal is reinforced.
The Pontos S Extreme has a striking appearance, grabbing attention with the vibrant colours employed. It is available in two colour ways, natural grey POWERLITE®, with orange, and anthracite POWERLITE®, with green. The natural grey POWERLITE® is an unusual shade which takes on some of the colour of its immediate environment, providing a striking appearance. Bold orange hues feature on the minute hand, chronograph registers, inner rotating bezel, unique “elapsed time control mechanism” and eye-catching strap.
Alternatively, thrill-seekers may prefer the darker tones of the anthracite POWERLITE® case paired with green details. Slightly more restrained in character but no less sporty, this colour combination is extremely masculine and handsome.
The hour and minute hands are bold and highly legible. Indeed, the minute hand shares the same colour as the inner rotating bezel. This particular shade also features on the 12-hour chronograph register, positioned at 6 o’clock, and the 30-minute chronograph register, located at noon. A small seconds display resides at 9 o’clock and a date aperture sits neatly above 6 o’clock.
Maurice Lacroix has always been known for its innovative approach to watch design and the Pontos S Extreme proves to be no exception. Not only does this sporty chronograph feature a unique case material, but the specification also includes the ingenious “elapsed time control mechanism” crown. This crown, located at 2 o’clock, operates the inner rotating bezel and is coupled with the start / stop operation of the chronograph. The mechanism prevents unintentional movement of the inner rotating bezel by incorporating a push and turn security system.
Measuring 43mm in diameter, the Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Extreme is beautifully proportioned. Its striking appearance is paired with a harmonious, simple to read dial with sun-brushed central area. The three subdials are snailed and sandblasted with black polished rings framing their extremities. All the dial elements have been carefully considered, ensuring a user-friendly display. Completing the array of features is a very stylish calfskin strap with contrasting stitching, granting a bold and exciting aesthetic.
