German watchmaker Glashütte Original presents seven elegant and glamorous new models in its captivating Pavonina collection of watches for the modern woman. The new models exhibit the collection’s softly flowing feminine forms with pleasing modifications, artfully enhanced by ornamental brilliance and exquisite details. In particular, the new models feature a newly designed dial with circular centre and Arabic numerals.
With dials ranging from minimalist silver to delicate, shimmering mother of pearl and galvanic black, cabochon or brillant-cut diamond indexes and lugs studded with 42 brillant-cut diamonds, the new Pavonina collection reflects the fascinating, facetted diversity of women.
All models feature the collections distinctive “cushion” shaped case, whose form dates back to the 1920s, when it was widely used with then newly fashionable wristwatches. For the inaugural edition of the Pavonina collection Glashütte Original’s designers adapted the vintage form to suit the contemporary woman; their patented integration of flexible lugs enables a snug fit between the watch and the wrist of the woman wearing it. These features are maintained in today’s seven new models, which complement the existing range in three versions of the case: in coolly brilliant stainless steel; in a contemporary bicolour combination of stainless steel and red gold; and in radiant 18 ct red gold.
All dials are crafted in an elaborate, sophisticated process by the manufactory’s own dial department in Pforzheim, Germany. Turning to the dial we note the circular centre with guilloche finishing and applied Arabic numerals, in a range of colours from rhodium to red gold, at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. They are augmented by cabochon or brillant-cut diamond indexes and a cabochon or brillant-cut diamond on the steel or red gold crown.
Of the seven models, those in stainless steel feature galvanised light silver or blue mother of pearl dials. The bicolour stainless steel and red gold models feature white mother of pearl dials. At the high end of the new Pavonina timepieces presented are two models in warm, radiant 18-carat red gold. The first presents a polished red gold case framing a shimmering white mother of pearl dial and fine guilloche finishing in the centre; red gold plate Arabic numerals, hour and minute hands; 8 brillant-cut diamond indexes, 21 brillant cut diamonds on each of the lugs, and a brillant-cut diamond atop the red gold crown.
Equally elegant is the second red gold version, distinguished by its exquisite galvanized black dial, perfectly complemented by a black alligator leather strap and red gold fold over clasp. This love of detail is equally apparent in the Pavonina collection bracelets. Straps are offered in a range of fashionably feminine colours ranging from stylish grey to midnight blue in Roma-satin and from shimmering cream-white to glacier blue in calfskin leather.
Each model is also offered with a delicate metal bracelet whose links echo the cushion shape of the case, in stainless steel, red gold and bicolour versions. All are fitted with Glashütte Original’s exclusive fold-over clasp, introduced in 2014.
The new Pavonina models feature the absolute precision and user-friendly comfort assured by the Calibre 03-02 quartz movement, newly developed by the manufactory’s inhouse design team. A special feature offers three times the standard magnetic protection, shielding the sensitive mechanism from the influence of modern mobile electronic devices and thus enhancing the quality of the watch.
The plate is decorated with the characteristic Glashütte stripe finish, and the engraved logo appears in gold on the silver plate. The polished case back provides ample space for individual engravings and personal dedications.
