The French watchmaking brand Michel Herbelin expands its Odyssée Chronograph collection with a new version on a leather strap. The sporty 70’s-inspired timepiece has a distinctive allure with its singular decagonal bezel.

In timely step with the vintage trend, this new Michel Herbelin model has its own self-assured style. The bezel of the Odyssée chronograph is enhanced by a blend of materials beginning with the brushed steel of its 43 mm case. Studded with ten screws in polished steel, its design relinquishes traditional shapes in favor of the 70’s-style decagon. With a black PVD coating in DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) offering an increased resistance to the test of time, the colour and finish of the bezel surface continues along the crown – protected by the case – and the push-pieces, which are grooved for easy grip. To complete this look with a tasteful touch, the bracelet in matte black alligator grain cowhide picks up the sportive spirit of the watch with double red overstitching.

With its Swiss-made quartz chronograph movement (Ronda 5040 B) guaranteeing precision to the second for fifty-four months, this new Odyssée on leather strap with its black lacquered dial is truly built for speed. With a large date calendar at 12 o’clock, the dial discreetly displays “continuous seconds” at 3 o’clock, “tenths of the second” at 6 o’clock and a “thirty minute” counter at 9 o’clock. Protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the tachymeter scale on the flange edge enables the red seconds hand to indicate speeds of between 60 to 400 km/h. The luminescent hands and indexes ensure optimal visibility even in dim lighting conditions. This vintage chronograph with just two push-pieces is simple to use, and its screwed case back offers water resistance up to 100 metres.

Heir to the French watchmaking expertise tradition, Michel Herbelin has been rooted in the Franche-Comté area of the Jura Mountains since 1947. The Odyssée chronograph was developed, designed, assembled, adjusted and checked within the Michel Herbelin workshops.
