Swiss luxury watch maker BOVET 1822 has always granted mother-of-pearl a privileged place when it comes to adorning the dials of its women’s timepiece. The multiple reflections of mother-of-pearl sublimely enrich designs such as miniature paintings or scrolls in flammé or honeycomb guilloché.
For its new Château de Môtiers collection presented at the 2015 Salon, BOVET wanted to add an additional touch of symbolism with the universal Flower of Life theme. This symbol has been considered to be the fundamental model of creation for millennia thanks to its geometric design and is present in many cultures and religions. The secret of the Flower of Life was preserved for thousands of years in ancient artefacts and sculptures from around the world and is encoded in the very cells of all life forms.
The Flower of Life is composed of several overlapping, crisscrossing circles, emanating from a central circle. The basic geometric structure that develops from its center illustrates that all forms of life grow from a single source, in the same way as cellular division, which continues until each life form has achieved its most harmonious form.
