In tribute to the heavens, the Manufacture has equipped it with an orbital tourbillon whose slow and fascinating movements create constantly surprising effects. This new creation is a compendium of the skills and expertise cultivated by the artisans of the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux.
The dial of the JLC Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Orbital watch features a precise diamond setting configuration inspired by the multi-levelled design of amphitheatres of ancient Greece.
The Manufacture adopted a new approach that infuses the diamonds with peerless fiery intensity. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s longstanding natural affinities with gem-setting are steadily strengthened by the artisans’ desire to give life to their most promising ideas. They have already invented the rock setting technique characterised by the absence of any visible metal holding the stones, as well as that of snow setting and its marvellous ability to convey the magic of nature.
On this model, they have devised a pyramid-style gemsetting technique in which the baguette-cut diamonds are arranged in such a way as to create a volume that unfurls like a dainty corolla, causing the depth effects to heighten the dancing sparkle of the precious stones. Even more surprisingly, the kinetics of the reflections varies according to the time of day and the diamonds’ angle of exposure to the light.
Next captivating attraction on the dial, the orbital tourbillon of the Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Orbital reproduces the movement of the earth, which makes a complete turn on its axis and in relation to the vernal point in 23 hours, 56 seconds and four seconds – namely a full sidereal day.
The dial has moved slightly and the diamond rays are pointing to the new tourbillon, which has taken up a new position. The barrel supplying the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Orbital with energy testifies to the watchmaking expertise of the Manufacture.
