The concept of Road Captain travels far down the Bentley memory lane, and pays homage to the original design by the watchmaker in the 1950s to produce a de facto driving watch for enthusiasts. The collection categorically preserves the asymmetrical form of the original case design that angles the dial surface at a15-degrees; the elevation is achieved by enlarged lugs propped on the topside.
The contoured design combines with ergonomically fitted straps, allows the watch wearer in driving positions to glance at the time with ease. A new innovation on the Road Captain is the relocation of the crown at 12 O’clock position, this engineering feat eliminates the awkwardness of the watch crown pressing against the back of hand particularly in driving positions.
Road Captain Club Sport models are equipped with chronograph quartz modules. The dial surfaces are treated to mimic the design of the cooling fins on vintage roadsters, and tri-compax dial designs are standard across the model line with continuous second sub-dial at 12 O’clock position, hour counter at 3O’clock position and minute counter at 6 O’clock position, the chronograph second hand revolves around the dial center and extends to the edge.
All models are complete with sapphire glass and leather straps, two case finishes are available at launch with a choice of steel and gold plating.
