Despite the invention of satellite and GPS, a Sextant is still the main tool to be used in ocean navigation. The principle of its function has not changed since it was invented by Isaac Newton in 17th century. This device does not depend on fragile electronics and batteries. But it needs an accurate chronometer. At the present time, the L’Duchen watch will serve the purpose.
