Zenith Pilot Type 20 Tribute to Charles Kingsford Smith

With these new timepieces, Swiss luxury watch brand Zenith pays tribute to Charles Kingsford Smith, the legendary Australian aviator who piloted the first transpacific flight from the United States to Australia.

Two new Pilot Type 20 models paying tribute to Charles Kingsford Smith serve as vivid reminders of the fundamental role played by Zenith in the conquest of the skies.

Charles Kingsford Smith was one of the early pioneers of Australian aviation. He was the first air pilot to accomplish the trans-Pacific flight to Australia from the mainline United States. Having left Oakland, California on 31 May 1928 at 8.54 a.m. aboard his Fokker F. VIIb/3m, the Southern Cross, weathered terrible storms and conquered huge distances, he landed on 9 June 1928 in Brisbane, Australia, where he was acclaimed as a national hero.
