Swiss watchmaker Edox has been making exquisitely engineered, high-performance, precision timepieces since 1884.
In 2014, EDOX celebrates its 130th birthday by releasing a new timepiece, a unique memento of the company’s brilliant journey through time. The Edox Les Bémonts Limited Edition 130th anniversary (130 available worldwide, individually numbered from 001 to 130) is an elegant, classic design with an automatic SOPROD 90 movement at its heart.
Presented in a special collectors’ box, the Les Bémonts Limited Edition is water-resistant to 3 ATM (30 m) and includes day, date, month and moon phase display. As with all Edox models, the Les Bémonts Limited Edition is beautifully finished and its caseback is specially engraved to mark the company’s 130th anniversary.
The Les Bémonts Limited Edition is born of the same watchmaking passion that was at the heart of Edox’s founding all those years ago when gifted watchmaker Christian Rufli-flury gave his wife Pauline a unique 25th birthday present – a pocket watch he had designed.
Touched by his gift, Pauline persuaded her husband to set out on his own. Thus, in 1884, Edox was born and in the 130 years since it has forged an amazing path for an independent, family-run watchmaker.
Among Edox’s achievements are revolutionary water-resistant models (delfin, 200m) in 1961 and the Hydrosub (500m, 1965), the striking Geoscope (1976, the first watch to display time in all world time zones and a collector’s classic today) and a world-record slimmest calendar watch (Les Bémonts Ultra slim, 1988).
