Mühle-Glashütte M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde

Robert Mühle, the founder of Mühle-Glashütte, produced instruments that were accurate to 1/100 and even 1/1000 of a millimeter. So that these values could be read accurately, millimeters were displayed with a coarse indicator while fractions of a millimeter were marked by a more precise indicator. The historical measuring instruments produced by Robert Mühle have provided inspiration to five generations of the family, culminating in the M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde. This timepiece expands on the “dial indicator gauge” family introduced by Mühle-Glashütte in 2013.

The Model M 29 dial indicator gauge by R. Mühle & Sohn was used as the template for this new timepiece from Mühle-Glashütte. With a range of 0.01 to 10 millimeters, the Model M 29 provided the ability to determine measurements of up to 1/100 of a millimeter. The Model 29 also featured a display with a large, precise pointer for measuring fractions of a millimeter as well asa small subdial with a course pointed for measuring individual millimeters.

The M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde draws on this design and translates it into the language of Nautical Instruments Mühle-Glashütte, paralleling its historical inspiration down to the smallest detail. The subdial precisely displays the seconds, while hours and minutes are presented on the large main dial. The black scale and finely cut, dark hands are clearly offset from the creme-colored dial. Red indicators at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions serve as orientation points and emphasize the instrument-like character of this watch.

The positioning of the seconds dial atthe 9 o’clock position is also a special feature of this classic timepiece. The red indicator hand and fine scaling enable the wearer to obtain a precise, to-the-second reading at any time. The date display, with its red border at the 3 o’clock position, creates a visual contrast to the seconds dial and gives the watch a balanced character. The 42.4 millimeter watchcase is supported by a wristband made of fine, brown leather.

To ensure precision and accuracy in all conditions, the self-winding automatic mechanism of the M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde is equipped with the patented, particularly shockproof Mühle-Glashütte woodpecker neck regulation. The durable case is water resistant up to 10 bar and comes with a screw-in crown – both of which serve to reinforce the robust character of this watch.
