Girard-Perregaux unveils new Traveller WW.TC watch in pink gold, which reflects the manufacture’s long tradition and expertise in the production of highly exceptional traveller’s timepiece.
The history of the Girard-Perregaux Swiss watch Manufacture is intertwined with the successive stages in the development of world traveling and globalization.
The new GP Traveller WW.TC Pink Gold watch is a tribute to this inspiring past. The timepieces invented since its creation provide ample illustration of this involvement, as do the countless journeys of its founders and their successors, always willing to expand their overseas presence to favour the Brand’s development.
Around 1830 Jean-François Bautte was already making pocket watches that showed the time in two different places at once. By 1860 François Perregaux had become the first Swiss watchmaker to settle in Japan on a long-term basis so as to develop his business interests there.
The Girard-Perregaux Traveller WW.TC Pink Gold watch displays time in all 24 time zones into which the planet is divided. Each zone is represented on the flange of the dial by the name of a major city located within it. The time can then be read by means of a rotating ring placed on the dial’s inner edge. Displaying numbers from 1 to 24, it makes a complete rotation once every 24 hours.
Its background coloring is divided into two halves, one light-toned and featuring the sun and the other black with a crescent moon, providing a day/night indication. In addition, the GP Traveller WW.TC Pink Gold watch has a chronograph function with a large central second and date display, shown in a window highlighted by a border at 1:30.
The dial boasts an embossed GP logo which shines with its warm, gentle glow. Both the leaf-shaped hands and the slender circling around each rounded hour marker display the same reflected light. These two features contain luminous material that enables the time to be read in the dark. The dial reproduces the outline of the mesh of latitudes and longitudes covering the earth. It is available in two colours: opaline white, or anthracite black. The dial and its flange are always in the same colour in order to produce a harmonious whole.
The elegant pink gold 44 mm diameter case contains 30 different elements. With its alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces creating interplay of reflections, it has the flowing lines and balanced volume worthy of an Haute Horlogerie timepiece. The lugs are particularly elongated before narrowing out markedly at their ends to ensure optimum comfort.
The case houses the GP03300 mechanical, self-winding movement. Equipped with a minimum 46 hours of power reserve, the model has a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
This timepiece is supplied with an elegant alligator strap featuring a pink gold folding buckle, with titanium blade.
