Baume & Mercier Clifton Two-Tone Collection

The eye-catching new Clifton two-tone watches pay tribute to the history of Baume & Mercier. They take us back to the 1950s, the golden age of the wristwatch, to honour an aesthetic style that was all the rage at the time. With this new family of contemporary watches, touches of red gold or the satin-finished treatment of the steel components of the case or bracelet lend a certain sense of luxury to these models designed for everyday wear. The two-tone watches that had disappeared for several years are now back in the spotlight to satisfy the expectations of customers looking for timeless elegance.

In the early days after its founding, Baume & Mercier, currently acknowledged as the seventh oldest watchmaking house still in activity, offered customers two-tone pocket watches with cases harmoniously combining silver and gold or polished and guilloché treatments. This fashion of associating gold with a white metal or using satin-finished treatments began on wristwatches in the 1930s and was more durably established in the so-called «Golden Fifties.» At the time, two-tone watches were hugely popular.

These combinations of materials or different treatments of the same metal have always been appreciated. They are now reinstated with a new family of watches of which the aesthetics and excellent finishing testify to Baume & Mercier’s expertise and know-how.

Inspired by a wristwatch featured in the Baume & Mercier catalogue in the 1950s, this year, the Clifton collection welcomes three two tone additions, available in 41 mm and 30 mm sizes:

  • Clifton 10139: 41mm, two-tone case, fitted with a brown alligator strap
  • Clifton 10140: 41mm, two-tone case, fitted with a two-tone bracelet
  • Clifton 10152: 30mm, two-tone case, fitted with a two-tone bracelet

By marrying different materials and original finishing, these watches lend an additional distinguished touch to this collection while remaining firmly within Baume & Mercier’s cherished accessible luxury segment.
