Swiss watch brand ORIS honours Jazz legend John Coltrane by unveiling a special limited edition timepiece named after him.
A true musical legend, saxophonist John Coltrane’s immeasurable contribution to the jazz scene influenced generations of musicians both during his life and after his death.
Revered as a talented musician, composer and the first master of improvisation, the form and shapes of Oris’ new John Coltrane Limited Edition have been affectionately designed to evoke the spirit of Coltrane’s golden years in the late 1950’s American jazz scene.
Proudly showcasing an unusual and highly curved sapphire crystal reminiscent of its retro plexiglass counterparts, the stainless steel casing of the John Coltrane Limited Edition resembles the original 1950’s timepiece designs from the Oris archives.
Coltrane’s influence on the design of this elegant, retro-design watch is also evident beneath the surface where a beautiful black dial face with a striking blue minute track offers a visual link to his seminal vinyl album, ‘Blue Train’, released 1957.
The new Oris John Coltrane watch is limited to only 1,000 pieces and presented in a luxurious velvet-lined box with a pillow like interior designed to emulate the casings of the classic instruments mastered by Coltrane.
