DAVOSA Ternos Professional

The new DAVOSA Ternos Professional possesses an automatic helium valve and is especially designed to accompany professional divers when they work in a diving bell and at great depths.

Swiss watchmaker DAVOSA’s Ternos model series has been synonymous with the classic divers’ watch. With the Ternos Professional, however, this range now boasts a divers’ watch that not only features the tried and tested ceramic bezel, but also a helium escape valve and water resistance to an impressive 500 metres. The latest addition to the Ternos range is available in black or blue and retails at 698 Euros.

The special feature of the Ternos Professional is its automatic helium valve which ensures a controlled equalisation of pressure between the watch and its outside environment when resurfacing from great depths.

Professional divers sometimes work under water for days, spending their breaks in diving bells. When resurfacing in the bell, the accompanying change in pressure can cause the watch glass to burst out of the case. The reason behind this phenomenon is helium, which is mixed with the air in the diving bell. This noble gas can permeate any seal, but cannot escape again quickly enough when resurfacing. The gas expands and exerts considerable pressure against the watch glass. One possible result is a defect watch. To stop this happening, the DAVOSA Ternos Professional is equipped with an automatic helium valve located at 9 o’clock.

Watches with this kind of safety feature often cost many thousands of Euros. DAVOSA offers a competitive alternative in the form of the Ternos Professional: A robust divers’ watch with water resistance up to 500 metres, a ceramic bezel, helium escape valve and a reliable Swiss automatic movement (ETA 2824-2).
