Presented in 2013, these two complicated watches from the new Berries collection are inspired by an exceptional High Jewellery creation created by the house of Bulgari.
Berries Tourbillon Retrograde Hours
Echoing the scrolling circular design of the berries collection, the gem-set bezel of this pink gold watch is adorned with 63 diamonds and 7 gemstones: two emeralds, two tourmalines, as well as one sapphire, ruby and amethyst. Circling the 40mm watch case, the diamond and gemstones set bezel also extends its radiance around the tourbillon cage placed at 6ó clock of the dial.
The watch crown is also set with a pink tourmaline. Surrounded by the sparkle of gems, the white mother-of-pearl dial and its motifs reflect subtle hand-crafted expertise. The delicacy of the decoration matches the gilt pink Roman numeral hour markets. The dial features 13 hour markers instead conventional 12 because the number 6 appears twice, on either side of the tourbillon opening, thus visually accompanying the retrograde motion of the hours hand that instantly jumps at exactly 6 o’clock from one 6 to the other in a 240° counter-clockwise rotation.
The watch houses the BVL 313 tourbillon self-winding calibre with retrograde hour display beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and boasts a 64-hour power reserve. This exceptional movement is entirely produced and assembled in Bulgari’s Fine Watchmaking workshops, and its 22k gold oscillating weight is set with 13 diamonds and visible through the sapphire case-back.
The black satin strap of the watch is secured by a pink gold folding clasp set with 28 diamonds. The new Berries Tourbillon Retrograde Hours is issued in a 25-piece limited edition.
Berries Jumping Hours and Retrograde Minutes
This original and eye-catching timepiece offers a distinctive and harmonious interpretation of the circular movement that has become a signature of the High Jewellery Berries collection. Its pink gold case is set with 133 diamonds and 7 gemstones (two emeralds, two tourmalines and one sapphire, ruby and amethyst) that literally light up the bezel and then merge into a sparkling scrolling motif.
Its white mother-of-pearl dial is composed of 10 segments pointing towards the jumping-hour display. The well-surrounded and protected jumping-hour aperture is complemented by the retrograde minutes hand which makes an instant 180° counter-clockwise jump every hour. The precious nature of the Berries Jumping hour and Retrograde Minutes watch is further accentuated by the crown set with a tourmaline.
This timepiece is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement in-house made by Bulgari and entirely decorated by hand. The 22K gold oscillating weight is visible through the sapphire case-back. The black satin strap is fitted with a folding clasp set with 28 diamonds.
