Christopher Ward unveils C8 Regulator watch, which is inspired by the mechanical regulator clocks used by watch makers to check accuracy of a watch. It these precision instruments, the hour, minute and second hands are operated separately, to check their work. The mechanical regulator watches were also used during Second World War bombing raids when great precision was essential and the aesthetic of the C8 Regulator has been strongly influenced by this period.
The most important hand, the minute hand, is centrally located, whilst the hours and seconds can be read from the two chronographs which are established at 12 O’clock and 6 O’clock in traditional regulator fashion. The Old Radium SuperLuminova™ finish of the hands and indexes adds to the military feel of the watches as does the aviation theme of the over-sized crown and the superb distressed leather vintage strap.
The new Bader deployment clasp (Patent Pending), a co-development between Christopher Ward and their Swiss partner, Jorg Bader, is also fitted as standard, the first CW watch to do so.
In the elegant 44mm C8, ticks a bespoke, hand-wound, Unitas 6498 movement, which is clearly visible through a full-width crystal back-plate. The C8 Regulator watch is available in Vintage Steel and Black PVD versions from £995
