Schwarz Etienne Introduces Three New Swiss Made Mechanical Watch Movements – ASE, MSE & TSE

Schwarz Etienne, a well established watch and movement manufacture based in Switzerland has announced the launch of three new exceptional mechanical watch movements. The first one (ASE) is an automatic movement featuring decentered motor mechanism. Second movement is a manual winding Calibre (MSE) and last one is an exceptional Tourbillon Movement (TSE).

1. ASE movement (Automatic movement with decentered micro rotor)
This high-end automatic movement launched in 2013 is entirely manufactured by Schwarz Etienne. 95% of its components are conceived in its own workshops, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This movement combines reliability, modularity and aesthetic fineness. The innovative point of the ASE conception, totally thought up and developed by Schwarz Etienne, is a decentered micro rotor mechanism. Another exclusive innovation: the oscillating weight is fixed by a clever self-blocking key. The ambitious construction has successfully faced technical challenges: micro rotor winding curve similar to the one of a standard centered rotor, not to say better, amplitude of 300° at 0h, inertia of 8 mg.cm2 and power reserve superior to 96h. This movement has already been through many wear and solidity tests and has achieved brilliant results. Its robustness and efficiency guaranty qualities of work that are indispensable for any high-end movement: reliability, durability and precision. Except for the sliding pinion, winding pinion and assortment, all the parts of the movement are conceived in Schwarz Etienne workshops.

The development of the ASE movement, as well as other Schwarz Etienne novelties, is based on the modularity and rationalization concepts. This innovative and patented construction is made of one common plate and one interchanging part that can fit either a micro rotor module (ASE movement) or a module with an additional barrel linked in parallel (MSE movement).

Moreover, the ASE has been designed to integrate complication modules conceived by Schwarz Etienne’s technical office. The second time zone indication (GMT) is even included in the volume of the original basic movement.

The modular philosophy allows anticipating future declinations of the movement to respond to high-end market requirements and satisfy demanding customers: reactivity, flexibility and competitiveness. Beyond the technical prowess, the ASE can be appreciated for its aesthetic fineness, faithful to the traditional fine watch-making spirit: balance specifically developed for Schwarz Etienne, with or without SE logo in the center, straight Côtes de Genève decorated bridges, polished angles, engraved rotor, or gold rimmed wheels.

2. MSE movement (Manual movement with double barrels)
This high-end manual movement launched in 2013 is entirely manufactured by Schwarz Etienne. 95% of its components are conceived in the company workshops, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This movement combines power, modularity and aesthetic fineness.

The innovative point of the MSE conception, totally thought up and developed by Schwarz Etienne, is a mechanism with two barrels coupled in parallel. That exclusive construction allows distributing exceptional power of 1.55 μw at the escapement to each additional module.

The ambitious construction has successfully faced technical challenges: amplitude of 300° at 0h, inertia of 16 mg.cm2 and power reserve superior to 96h. This movement has already been through many wear and solidity tests and has achieved brilliant results. Its power and robustness guaranty qualities of work that are indispensable for any high-end movement: reliability, durability and precision.

The development of the MSE movement, as well as other Schwarz Etienne novelties, is based on modularity and rationalization concepts. This innovative and patented construction is made of one common plate and one interchanging part that can fit either a module with an additional barrel linked in parallel (MSE movement) or a micro rotor module (ASE movement).

Moreover, the MSE has been designed to integrate complication modules conceived by Schwarz Etienne’s technical office. The second time zone indication (GMT) and the power reserve indicator (PRI) are even included in the volume of the original basic movement. Furthermore, the power reserve display can be positioned at 9 o’clock or 1:30. The modular philosophy allows anticipating future declinations of the movement to respond to high-end market requirements and satisfy demanding customers: reactivity, flexibility and competitiveness.

Beyond the technical prowess, the MSE can be appreciated for its aesthetic fineness, faithful to the traditional fine watchmaking spirit: balance especially developed for Schwarz Etienne, with or without SE logo in the center, straight Côtes de Genève decorated bridges, polished angles, or gold rimmed wheels. Except for the sliding pinion, winding pinion and assortment, all the parts of the movement are conceived in Schwarz Etienne workshops.

3. TSE movement (Manual Tourbillon movement)
This high-end tourbillon movement launched in 2013 is entirely manufactured by Schwarz Etienne, in partnership with Chronode SA. The TSE movement combines technical virtuosity and aesthetic fineness.
This device has been invented to eliminate errors of rate in the vertical positions. It consists of a mobile cage carrying all the parts of the escapement, with the balance in the center. The escape pinion turns about the fixed fourth wheel. The cage makes one revolution per minute, thus annulling errors of rate in the vertical positions. This delicate, complex mechanism is one of the most ingenious mechanical watch making devices.

Beyond technical performances, the TSE can be appreciated for its aesthetic fineness, faithful to the traditional fine watchmaking spirit: bridge cage especially developed for Schwarz Etienne, taking the SE logo in the center, straight Côtes de Genève decorated bridges, polished angles, or gold rimmed wheels.
