In 1961, Swiss watch manufacture Vulcain accomplished a remarkable technical achievement with the first Nautical, a diver’s watch able to descend to a depth of 300 metres.
Over 50 years after the Nautical, Vulcain now welcomes a new collection inspired by the fascinating ocean depths: SubNautical.
Also capable of diving to 300 metres, the three first Vulcain SubNautical watch models are based on the principle of merging sportiness and elegance to form an indissoluble whole. The 42 mm-diameter steel case features refined polished and satin-brushed finishes, while the cambered sapphire crystal gives a discreet curve to the overall effect.
An ideal companion for underwater adventures, the unidirectional rotating bezel is made from shiny black or blue ceramics and features transferred 60-minute graduations in a choice of gold-toned, white or frosted silver-toned variations – all of which combines to ensure perfect readability even deep below the surface.
The Vulcain SubNautical watch beats to the rhythm of the bidirectional self-winding Calibre V-56. With a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a 42-hour power reserve, it has all the assets expected from a finely crafted mechanical movement.
A concern for details extends to all aspects of this model, since the rhodiumed movement is delicately adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif despite the presence of a solid screwed-in case-back. The movement drives hours, minutes and seconds hands, as well as the ever useful date function.
Underscoring the resolutely sporting chic character of this model, the SubNautical by Vulcain is equipped with either a steel bracelet featuring polished and satin-brushed finishes, or a water-repellent black alligator leather strap, both secured to the wrist by a steel folding clasp.
