Backes and Strauss, the world’s oldest diamond company, has announced to unveil a unique Victoria Princess Red Heart watch created exclusively for the Only Watch auction 2013, which aims to aid the fight against muscular dystrophy through its support of the ‘Monaco Myopathy Association’.
As part of the Victoria Princess collection, the inspiration behind this luxurious timepiece piece is a 19th century brooch, drawn from the company’s archives, and consisting of two diamond encrusted, linked hearts. These interlocking hearts are now the focal point of the Victoria Princess Red Heart and have been repeated again and again in a circle seen to symbolise everlasting love, life and friendship.
A delicate sprinkling of rubies intersperse Backes and Strauss’ trademark ‘ideal cut’ diamonds. These rubies have been carefully selected, not only due to their association with love and passion, but because they are said to represent vitality, energy and health, all of which are qualities that are integral to this charitable event. This watch is being auctioned in the knowledge that it will be perceived as a symbol of love for the woman who wears it, but also as a representation of hope for those that are being supported by this wonderful cause.
