Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Collection 2013 – Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin Duetto Duo, Grande Reverso Ultra Thin High Jewellery & Reverso Cordonnet Duetto

In 1931, polo enthusiasts were delighted with the birth of the first watch able to accompany them in the practice of their favourite sport. Following its footsteps, the first feminine Reverso has emerged from the workshops of the Grande Maison. The Art Deco spirit that has since inspired the finest models from the Manufacture set its seal on the profile of the collection. In order to offer a dainty watch more suited to the female anatomy, Calibre 404 was specially developed in 1933.

The creativity of the Jaeger-LeCoultre master artisans was confirmed in 1994 with the revolutionary Duoface concept. This invention first launched for men made it possible to have two faces driven by a single movement. Introduced for women in 1997 and renamed Duetto, it immediately found its place on women’s wrists with its light-coloured side by day and a darker diamond-rimmed side for evening wear. In 2000, the Duetto Duo model introduced a dual time-zone display to a watch with an already complex construction.

Among the new models for 2013 were two Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin watches, including a Duetto Duo, which have risen to the challenge of extreme slenderness designed to highlight their technical assets. Alongside them is a High Jewellery model testifying in turn to the incredible inventiveness of the master artisans and designers of the Manufacture.

Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin Duetto Duo
It is one of the 400 inventions filed by the Grande Maison in the course of the past 180 years. The Duetto Duo pushes the boundaries of watch construction. This reversible model boasts a twin aesthetic, a dual time-zone display, a single mechanism and now an ultra-thin interpretation – a daunting challenge ably met by the boundless ingenuity of the Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmakers.

Entirely designed with women in mind, the Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin Duetto Duo associates the complexity of its mechanism with a supremely delicate design. Its slender profile appears in three steel, white gold or pink gold versions, within a case elegantly adjusting to even the slimmest wrists thanks to its curved lugs. While the technical feat lay in accommodating a dual time-zone mechanism within an ultra-thin case, the aesthetic of the dial honours the Duetto concept.

The classic face features a central sunburst guilloché pattern surrounded by dancing hour numerals; while the other more contemporary face comes in either light-coloured or grey mother-of-pearl marquetry, depending on the model. The jewellery version is adorned with mother-of-pearl on both faces, one of which is subtly lit up with diamonds.

The Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin Duetto Duo is available with a double wrap-around Valextra strap. Its white “Pergamena” colour is the epitome of femininity and a symbol of the inimitable Valextra style.

Grande Reverso Ultra Thin High Jewellery
Delicately clothed in pink or white gold and sprinkled with over 90 diamonds, the reversible case of the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin High Jewellery accentuates its slender 7.87 mm thick lines. It hugs the wrist like a second skin thanks to its curving lugs. The natural mother-of-pearl dial shimmers in iridescent radiance, providing an exquisite stagesetting for the applied Arabic hour numerals with a beautiful calligraphy-inspired font that softens the geometrical lines of the case.

The central guilloché motif is swept over by a pair of elegantly bevelled hands. The back of the dial is left free to personalise the watch as desired thanks to the many different engraving and gemsetting options provided by the Manufacture. The white gold model is teamed with a white alligator leather strap that lends a fresh elegance to the personality of this watch. The pink gold version extends into an all-gold bracelet composed of supple links ensuring perfect comfort on the wrist and completing the chic, contemporary effect.

Reverso Cordonnet Duetto
Sublimated by the Rare Crafts cultivated by the Grande Maison, the new High Jewellery creation exalts the Duetto concept in a ‘diadem’ sparkling with over 1,250 diamonds. Inspired by a 1936 model by Jaeger-LeCoultre, this jewellery watch plays an inspired symphony of aesthetic and technical elegance.

The entirely gemset Reverso Cordonnet Duetto encircles the wrist with its perfectly flowing cordlet-style bracelet. The creation of a diamond-set wristlet seamlessly following the curve of the wrist was an impressive challenge indeed. Each of the links, paved with several diamonds, supply interlock to form a delightfully rounded Art Deco inspired design.

The dials vie with each other in radiating dazzling elegance. The lapis lazuli dial is lit up in each corner by a grain setting, while the other made from natural mother-of-pearl highlights its delicate curves escorted by diamonds.

The heart of the watch beats to the rhythm of mechanical manually-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 844. Although hidden from sight, the finishes on this movement remain loyal to the traditions of Fine Watchmaking. Bevelling, straight graining, circular graining, Côtes de Genève and jewels testify in secret to the hand-crafted attention lavished on every detail, even those that are invisible once the watch is assembled. Therein lays all the beauty of a supreme horological expression, magnified by the jeweller’s art.
