In April 2013, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of its association with the Queen Elizabeth II (AP QEII) Cup in Hong Kong, the world renowned Swiss watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet will launch a 100-piece Millenary limited edition.

The Audemars Piguet Millenary QEII Cup 2013 Limited Edition features the collection’s distinctive oval-shaped case. The 18-carat white gold case and buckle are embellished with 339 brilliant-cut diamonds, while the dial is set with 139 brilliant-cut diamonds, all of which are of IF (Internally Flawless) clarity.

The silvered guilloché gold dial with printed Arabic numerals is accentuated by a diamond-paved off-centered disc with Roman numerals. In honour of the 15 years of sponsorship, Audemars Piguet has planned a series of activities to unfold in April for this important milestone: on April 11, the selections announcement of the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup will be held to announce the 14 runners. It will be followed by the Barrier Draw that will take place on April 25, where the horse representatives will draw their stall number.

Then on April 26, Audemars Piguet will host a gala party in partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which promises to be a memorable gala event with horse owners, jockeys, celebrities and distinguished guests. Last but not least, the much awaited Queen Elizabeth II Cup race will take place on April 28 at the Sha Tin Racecourse.

About Queen Elizabeth Cup

The Queen Elizabeth II Cup race was established in 1975 to commemorate the visit of the Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip to Hong Kong. The race is traditionally run in the spring season and has become one of the most important social events in Hong Kong since then.

Over the years, the Queen Elizabeth II Cup has evolved into an internationally recognised race, with participants from both local and overseas. Audemars Piguet became the title sponsor of the Queen Elizabeth II Cup since 1999, which is now an International Group 1 race and stands prominent in the racing firmament, currently offering a purse of HK$14 million.
