The GRIEB & BENZINGER Blue Symphony is a unique horological masterpiece with a platinum case and a historic minute repeater movement.
This massive platinum watch has a 49 mm diameter case. It comes with a domed anti-reflective sapphire sight glass and flat sapphire glass at the bottom. The solid platinum crown has a thermally blued steel appliqué. The hand-guilloched bezel and the sapphire crystal back are screwed.
The hand-skeletonized dial is made of sterling silver and finished with the legendary Breguet Frost Finish.
The GRIEB & BENZINGER Blue Symphony timepiece houses a historic minute repeater movement made by Patek Philippe for Tiffany New York in 1887. It has 36 jewels. The compensation balance with screws and blued Breguet hairspring oscillates at 18,000 A/h.
The minute repeater movement with 2 polished steel hammers with 2 gongs was completely dismantled into all its individual parts and restored, refined and also converted to a regulator display, and the original transmission gear wheel was replaced by a “mysterious wheel” with a specially manufactured glass insert. All striking mechanism parts, levers and springs have been ground and chamfered.
The blue base plate was skeletonized by hand, guilloched and then finished with the typical blue-platinum coating exclusively developed by GRIEB & BENZINGER. The visible barrel has been skeletonized by hand. Each bridge is hand guilloched, rhodium plated and rose gold plated.
The balance cock was engraved, rhodium-plated and rose gold-plated by hand. Even the wheels were guilloched, and the heads of all screws were polished by hand and classically blued with an open flame.
GRIEB & BENZINGER Blue Symphony comes with a dark blue alligator strap with platinum buckle.
