British luxury watch brand Christopher Ward presents Belisama, their first ever range automatic watches for ladies. The design of the Belisama W90 and W900 pays homage to the iconic Cartier ‘Tank’ as well as the Celtic goddess who gave the range its name.
Belisama was worshipped by Britons and Gauls before and after the collapse of the Roman Empire. The goddess was associated with crafts and wisdom as well as light – including fire, sunlight and moonlight. The galvanic silver sunrays on the dial, the particularly high grade diamonds which glint – even in moonlight – and the dramatic Roman numerals were all inspired by Belisama and the time when she was so revered.
On the W900, from £1,150, two columns of full-cut, VVS1, Top Wesselton diamonds decorate the case. In all 36 of the gems are used, while a blue carbouchon stone decorates the crown. The W90, from £599, features just the six VVS-1 diamonds that decorate the dial but otherwise shares the same features. With both watches there is a choice of straps, specifically designed for women’s wrists in either, high grade stainless steel or alligator – as well as cases – in either hand polished stainless steel or 18ct gold plate.
