Thanks to its transparent sapphire dial, the watch R02 HAUTE HORLOGERIE reveals its heart – the tailor-made manufacture movement « Tourbillon Manège® ». This unique caliber in the watch industry has been created and developed by the founders of the brand REVELATION.
This particular tourbillon has been named “Manège” because as in a fairground attraction in which cars and horses are fixed to a rotating platform, the energy distribution and regulation organs are fixed to a rotating platform: the balance, lever, wheel and its escape-wheel are mounted on a mobile arm – the bridge of the “Tourbillon Manège®”.
This bridge is inserted between two wheels mounted on the central axis of the watch. Similar in function to a fourth wheel, this system that is truly unique in the field of watch construction transmits the force supplied by four barrels through a conventional going train.
This wheel torque, maintaining the rotation of the “Tourbillon Manège®” has been calculated to last one minute, thereby compensating, as in a traditional tourbillon mechanism, for gains or losses in rate.
An 18 kt gold ingot mounted on the far end of the tourbillon bridge serves as a counterweight to the regulating system fixed on the opposite end, thus ensuring optimal operation by achieving a subtle balance. This assembly method leaves a considerable amount of space for the personalized balance that keeps the heart of the “Tourbillon Manège®” beating at the rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Thanks to its four series-coupled barrels, this hand-wound movement boasts a guaranteed power reserve of 48 hours.
Only a specialized watchmaker mastering the art of the regulation is able to assemble a complication such as the “Tourbillon Manège®” because each spiral must be adjusted on its own balance, then thanks to a personalized index-assembly, he can assure a fine-tune setting of the spiral. The Master Watchmaker spends about one month to assemble the 356 components that represent a single movement; to adjust, to control and to case up.
Then one needs to add to this craftsmanship work, the hand-made decorations, especially the finishing of the 52 inverted corners which are impossible to machine. It is precisely for these reasons that this caliber belongs, without a doubt, to the prestigious family of the Haute Horlogerie complications.
The R02 HAUTE HORLOGERIE collection is currently available in yellow, pink and white 18 kt gold. The design of the case clearly belongs to the brand REVELATION thanks to its four studs on its lugs securing the carrier to the three atmosphere waterproof case middle. The models are proposed on black veal leather Barenia with an 18 kt REVELATION folding buckle.
