Independent watch maker Christiaan van der Klaauw makes use of the theme of Moon phases to create the astronomical timepiece: the Retro Moon. In the design of the Retro Moon, Christiaan van der Klaauw makes use of a retrograde function for the first time. The hand that indicates the phases of the Moon is equipped with this unique complication. After one lunar cycle, the hand jumps back to the start position.

The Retro Moon has a clear and recognisable design. The rays in the dial, which feature in most new designs of Christiaan van der Klaauw, are prominent. The stylish and austere design of the watch will especially appeal to those who like a combination of classical and modern features.

The Retro Moon module is entirely manufactured in house. Its retrograde hand shows the phases of the moon and is powered by the base movement. By means of sixteen different positions the snail cam makes a full rotation with every completed lunar cycle. The indication of the different Moon phases results from the lever connected thereto.
