Hamilton Khaki Flight Timer

Introduced in 2011, the Hamilton Khaki Flight Timer multi-functional timepiece was developed in close collaboration with Air Zermatt, the famous Helicopter rescue company based in Zermatt, in the Swiss Alps.

Digital and analog displays reach new heights with the Khaki Flight Timer, a sophisticated, multi functional aviation watch, which even incorporates a dedicated pilots’ logbook to record details of up to 20 flights and for each of them 99 landings. Designed in cooperation with Air Zermatt, Switzerland’s prestigious and highly skilled helicopter rescue and transport service, the watch accommodates a comprehensive spectrum of practical and dynamic functionality. Operationally and visually the watch is geared to the preferences of aviation lovers on the ground and in the air. Confirming the longevity of these Swiss-made watches is a perpetual calendar with validity until 2099. Their launch also marks the signing of an official partnership between Hamilton and Air Zermatt, with the range including a special edition bearing the famous helicopter service’s logo.

For pilots, a reliable logbook to document their flights is crucial for two main reasons. It enables them to record their flying hours so that they have proof of clocking the number required each year for them to retain their license. Equally as important is its role in alerting the pilot that an engine service for the helicopter or airplane in question is due. Having this facility in the Khaki Flight Timer fulfills these two tasks conveniently and with optimal accuracy. The digital logbook, activated by the pusher positioned at 10 o’clock, records all the data that a pilot has to report: the block run time (when the plane begins to taxi), the take-off time, the landing and the block close time (when the plane has stopped before switching off the engine).

The crown situated at 3 o’clock opens up a whole new world of functionality, also using the appealingly geometric digital display to show the desired information. This includes a second time zone feature with a swap facility allowing the traveller to reverse the two digital time zones (T1 and T2) easily through a short press of the crown at 2 o’clock. The hands and the alarm are automatically getting synchronized with the digital time T1. Other globetrotting highlights are the addition of the daily and yearly alarms, the perpetual calendar, the date and week in four languages, the chronograph and the digital display light and the Superluminova© hands. The Khaki Flight Timer integrates more aviation facilities: the Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) to complement am/pm and 24-hour timing, the ISA (International standard atmosphere) temperature, a bidirectional bezel as well as a countdown. And to cover every eventuality, there is a low battery indicator.

There are six variations of the Khaki Flight Timer. Elegant silver-colored, anthracite or black dials perfectly easy- to- read through the anti-reflective sapphire crystal enjoy the protection of a robust stainless steel case with easy-to-grip crowns and pusher, as well as a clearly imprinted bezel. Distinctive identity comes from a wide choice of attachment ranging from a sophisticated brown leather strap to a comfortable soft black or orange rubber strap. A classical metal bracelet is also right on target for multi-tasking lifestyles where leisure and work activities fuse seamlessly. The black dial version displays the Air Zermatt logo on the case back, duplicated on the bright orange and black rubber straps. The highly skilled company’s pilots wear a Khaki Flight Timer engraved with their name.
