Introduced in 2011, this L.U.C Chrono One model comes in a 44 mm-diameter 18-carat rose gold case, which is redesigned with smoother, more voluptuous curves, while the polished and satin brushed lugs have been entirely recreated to ensure a perfect overall balance.
The dial of the L.U.C Chrono One also features some new refined touches: the hours are now marked by delicately applied Roman numerals inspired by the 1960s aesthetic; the hands have been transformed from the “Dauphine” style to a design which underscores the precision of the L.U.C 11CF movement beneath them; and finally, the rose gold crown engraved with the L.U.C logo is slimmer while remaining equally ergonomic.
These attributes, combined with the oversized chronograph counters, give special attention to readability. The resulting visual effect is further accentuated by the colour contrast between the satin-brushed silver-toned dial and the slate-black counters.
The show continues on the other side of the watch, since for the first time the L.U.C Chrono One features an “arena” case-back – a distinctive and original shape enabling a full immersion into the mechanical movement, while also revealing its sides.
The surrounding “terraces” of this stadium are engraved with several important indications – “Chopard Manufacture”, “Chrono One”, the L.U.C logo, as well as series numbers – all protected by a glare-proofed sapphire crystal. Water-resistant to 100 metres, this exceptional timepiece has a 60-hour power reserve and is chronometer-certified by the COSC.
This extremely meticulous finishing of the case, dial and back is matched by an exceptional movement. Designed, developed and produced by Chopard Manufacture, L.U.C Calibre 11CF is an integrated chronograph movement – one of the watchmaking world’s most prestigious complications. It is indeed equipped with a column wheel – the nerve centre of high-end chronographs – and powers a flyback function.
Like its predecessor, the L.U.C Calibre 11CF is distinguished in particular by four innovative systems for which patents are pending The reset function operates by means of a lever pivoting three supple hammers, thereby ensuring optimal return of the counter hands and also enabling the reset action.
The L.U.C Calibre 11CF also includes a “small seconds reset” function combined with a movement stop feature for precise time setting as well as a vertical coupling clutch Finally, the self-winding mechanism winds in both directions and comprises a unidirectional gear device. This system avoids loss of energy and ensures optimal winding speed via the gold oscillating weight.
This sophisticated and sporty L.U.C Chrono model is fitted with a new black or brown hand-sewn alligator leather strap lined with brown alligator leather and secured by a folding clasp.
