IWC Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition “Plastiki” Reference IW323608

IWC designed a special Ingenieur watch series to accompany environmentalist and adventurer David de Rothschild and his team on their spectacular ocean expedition named “Plastiki”.

The Plastiki is a catamaran made out of 12,500 reclaimed plastic bottles and other recycled products. In 2010, Rothschild and his crew wore IWC “Adventure Ecology” models on its expedition across the Pacific Ocean. Their misison was to draw global attention to the health of the oceans, in particular the colossal amounts of plastic that are choking our waves, whilst rethinking waste as a resource.

Based on the IWC “Adventure Ecology” watch, the Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition “Plastiki” has proven its suitability for expedition use in more than 30 extreme tests and on gruelling journeys of adventure.

The steel case, measuring 46 mm diameter is water-resistant to 12 bar/120 meters. It comes with sturdy protective shoulders for the crown. Inside this watch beats the IWC-manufactured 80110 calibre, which is also protected against magnetic fields by a soft-iron inner case and against impacts by a shock absorber.
