Mühle Glashuette Teutonia III Handaufzug

Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte, the German brand specialized in high-quality ships’ timepieces, marine chronometers and mechanical wristwatches, introduces a new model equipped with caliber MU 9411 – the first hand-wound movement from the company. Refined with a Glashütte three-quarter plate and the in-house fine regulation, this movement celebrates its premiere in a special model of the Teutonia watch range: the Teutonia III Handaufzug.

The Teutonia III Handaufzug adeptly incorporates the past: the reason for this is not only the grooved bezel, but also the traditional design of the dial. Minute track, Arabic numerals and classic Breguet-shape hands mean that the design of the dial recalls the perfect shape of traditional Glashütte pocket watches.

Beyond this, it is also clearly apparent which Mühle-Glashütte watch family this new timepiece be-longs to. The purist dial and case with its volute-shaped lugs and characteristic polish identify this hand-wound timepiece as a genuine Teutonia. The design of the dial, which is reminiscent of pocket watches, reflects the character of the new MU 9411 beautifully: its transmission wheel and ratchet wheel, for example, are placed visibly in the three-quarter plate typical of Glashütte, and are given the Glashütte solarization, both of which are features of typical Glashütte pocket watch movements.

In addition, the hand-wound movement is also equipped with the woodpecker neck regulation developed by Mühle in 2003. This ensures that the timing check of the movement, which is regulated in six positions, is not altered when the watch is subjected to a sharp jolt. A centre second, date display and 38-hour power reserve are further technical features of the hand-wound movement, which has a diameter of 25.6 millimetres and a height of 3.4 millimetres. The movement is pro-tected by a 41-millimetre stainless steel case and domed, anti-reflecting sapphire crystal.

However, the Teutonia III Handaufzug not only provides a look back at Glashütte tradition. With its hand-wound MU 9411 movement it also points to the future of Mühle-Glashütte. Because the MU 9411 is the second movement after the automatic MU 9408 to have its own calibre designation from Mühle. This is not only proof of the ongoing expansion of manufacturing capability at Mühle-Glashütte, it also points to the path along which Mühle-Glashütte is currently travelling: towards becoming a manufacture.
