By introducing the new Fireman Storm Chaser DLC Glow model, BALL Watch pays tribute to its original model named Fireman Storm Chaser, which was launched in 2009.
The new model utilizes a striking entirely black color scheme to illustrate the mystifying concept of lightning in the darkness. A simplicity on sleek and chic design, the resolutely masculine and refined new version features tight lines, being cloaked in intense black color and incomparable ease of time reading.
The Storm Chaser DLC Glow houses an automatic Swiss mechanical chronograph movement for reliable timing. In addition to hours, minutes, seconds and the day and date display, this striking timepiece combines two measurement scales in order to provide essential information to the wearer.
With the tachymeter, the wearer can measure speed over a given distance. The telemeter makes it possible to easily calculate the distance between the observer and a situation that is observable both visually and audibly (like lightning and thunder) based on the speed of sound through air. The two scales can prove to be a vital tool to storm chasers, both amateurs and professionals alike.
The 43 mm stainless steel case, with glare-proof scratch resistant and convex sapphire crystal, is DLC coated (diamond-like carbon) for superior scratch resistance and longevity.
The caseback of the Storm Chaser DLC Glow pays tribute to BALL Watch explorer Dr. Josh Wurman, by bearing his greatest achievement: “the Doppler On Wheels”.
With this new technology Wurman can get closer to the tornadoes to witness their lowest levels and view their damaging winds in near real-time.
Other than the stealthy black theme, Ball Watch applies its 3H technology and nocturnal design equipping the Storm Chaser DLC Glow with self-powered gas micro-lights that ensure exceptional legibility of the time, even in the absolute darkness.
The typology, design and colors of the dial underscore the watch’s functions. In the dark a total of 66 micro gas tubes illuminate the dial, emitting a blue glow from each hour index, orange at 12, green for the chronograph functions and giving off an yellow glow from the hour, minute, and second hands for an impressive luminous effect.
The Storm Chaser DLC Glow is available on two versions: the first, “all black”, on either a black DLC coated stainless steel bracelet or calf leather strap. The second version, half DLC, with white dial on a stainless steel bracelet or calf leather strap.
