Swiss Luxury watch brand MCT ( Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps) has just launched Sequential One All Black, a stunning new version of the amazing Sequential One. More complicated than a tourbillon with its 471 individual components and with a worlds first display system, MCT’s original timepiece is now available in a very limited All Black edition. Creator Denis Giguet, announced that only 20 of these extremely limited pieces will be available worldwide per year. The first ten pieces for 2010 have already been pre-sold. MCT manufactures only fifty timepieces each year.
The idea behind this particular version was an All Black treatment, so popular amongst collectors worldwide. The 18 karat gold, 41 part case, is coated with DLC (diamond like carbon) to achieve a truly deep black. MCT’s unique deployant buckle crafted in gold in its natural color receives the black DLC coating to the logo. The prisms are coated in a special dark treatment to better show off the huge white hour numerals and the signature MCT single red Minutes hand.
The MCT bespoke movement, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, is also coated with black DLC, putting real emphasis on the striking gold screw balance, oscillating assembly, and hour wheel. A Straumann double hairspring balance and a total of 81 jewels make up the formidable design. There are 3 patents pending related to the instantaneous rotation of the minutes disk and the system for energy storage which makes a 40 hour power reserve possible.
Giguet’s hand-wound mechanical movement is totally assembled at MCT in Geneva. The in-house watchmakers are under Denis’s watchful eye as he passes on his immense technical expertise. It’s important to fully appreciate the significance of an in-house designed and assembled movement as it is rare that companies design such complex masterpieces themselves, preferring instead to outsource this task.
External suppliers in Switzerland machine the parts to an MCT design and all assembly and quality-control testing is performed in-house by Denis and MCT’s own team of watchmakers led by Master watch-maker Jérome Marcu. MCT customers can rest east knowing that all servicing and after sales will be conducted in-house by Jerôme and his highly trained team.
