Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Chronometer Spasskaya Tower

Swiss luxury watch maker Ulysse Nardin pays homage to the compelling beauty and importance of Moscow’s Spasskaya Tower by presenting the new Maxi Marine Chronometer Spasskaya Tower.

Casting a watchful “eye” on all who pass through its gate onto Red Square and majestically standing as a pillar of guardianship over Moscow’s Kremlin is Spasskaya, or Saviour, Tower. Under the supervision of Italian architect Pietro Antonio Solari, the tower was built in 1491, and since, its gate has served as the official entrance to the citadel. Through this opening some of the most revolutionary names in history have passed. In 1658, with the addition of an icon of the Saviour (no longer present), the country’s people have held the tower in the highest regard; some believe it holds miraculous powers.

Transfixed by Spasskaya Tower, particularly the face and hands of its clock – which first made its appearance in the 17th century – Ulysse Nardin has crafted a special watch edition (limited to 250) based on the medieval masterpiece.

Ulysse Nardin pays homage to its compelling beauty and importance with the new Maxi Marine Chronometer Spasskaya Tower. Delivering the exacting performance expected from Ulysse Nardin chronometers, it also reveals an artistry that is entrancing.

On its face, take particular note of the hands; they mirror the design of the tower. Turn the watch over and look closely. Its rose-gold back is the setting for an engraved Spasskaya Tower and a portion of the Kremlin wall. The realism of the engraving is so intense that the time on the clock is readable and the smallest details are apparent. The backing provides its wearer with a sense of connection to this riveting place.
