Louis Erard 1931 New 44mm Moon Phase and GMT Big Date Models
During autumn 2009, Louis Erard released two new models in its Collection 1931: the Moon Phase and the GMT Grande Date, housed in larger cases.
Housed in a generously-sized, contemporary 44mm steel case, the new 1931 – offered in a Moon Phase or GMT Big Date version – embodies a special kind of elegance: refined lines, subtle interplays of structures and volumes, and judiciously selected materials. Added to this are a perfect mastery of technical elements and uncompromising finishing.
Because Louis Erard wanted to preserve its impressive, highly distinctive case, while giving its new creations a more classical look, large Roman numerals now embellish a finely guilloched dial, offered for the first time in anthracite grey or in silvered tones as contemporary as they are timeless.
In the Moon Phase version, the printed date on the flange adds a remarkable sense of depth to the layered structure, while the moon phase gives the whole piece an impression of softness and balance.
Robust, elegant and unpretentious, the stylish, sophisticated 1931 GMT Big Date is particularly appealing when its dial scintillates with silvered reflections accentuated by a coffee-coloured strap, or when a noble aura emanates from its coal-grey accents skilfully orchestrated between the dial and strap.
