Swiss watch brand EPOS has created a limited edition version of its 3406 model to honor Mike Schmid, a Swiss freestyle skier specialized in the ski cross category.
Mike Schmid has been a member of the Swiss Skicross national team for several years. In Switzerland, skiing is a very popular and traditional sport.
In Skicross, which is a younger and even more challenging version of skiing, the racer not only competes against time and racing track, but also against three competitors that start at the same time. Mike Schmid won the Swiss championship in 2007.
Last season, he won his first world cup race. This season, he continued his outstanding performance by winning three world cup races and the Olympic gold medal in Vancouver.
The EPOS Passion Ref. 3406 Limited Edition Mike Schmid model features a 43mm diameter case, with the legendary Valjoux 7750 self-winding chronograph beating inside. In addition to the hour and minute hands, it has a day and date window at 3 o’clock, 30 minutes chronograph counter at 12 o’clock, 12 hours chronograph counter at 6 o’clock, small seconds at 9 o’ clock and central chronograph seconds hand.
The black dial with Côtes de Genève decoration highlights the inscription MIKE SCHMID at 6 o’clock, below the 12-H chronograph counter.
The EPOS 3406 Mike Schmid watch is limited to 2,010 pieces. Visible through the exhibition case-back, the oscillating weight of the movement features Mike Schmid’s signature and inscriptions about this special edition watch.
