Mühle-Glashütte Teutonia II Quadrant Chronograph

The Teutonia II Quadrant Chronograph enlarges the elegant Teutonia family by Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte. The “Quadrant“ part of the name is not only a pointer to the nautical origins of the company, it also signals to people who know the series that this is a family member with a square-shaped case.

One of the biggest challenges when developing a square-shaped chronograph is to ensure that the seconds in a stopped time are easily readable even in the corners of the case. It is no problem to reconcile a square-shaped case with this requirement as the ratio between case dimensions and hand lengths can be designed to give a very harmonious whole.

As with the other members of the family, the silver-coloured face of the new chronograph is intricately engine turned and its fine relief-like drawing is embossed with a die. To this are added the manually applied indices and blackened hands. The latter harmonize wonderfully with the silver-coloured face, but at the same time stand out very clearly from it, thus making it even easier to read the display.

To make the Teutonia II Quadrant Chronograph into a time measuring instrument which operates with the greatest possible precision, it is equipped with a MU 9408 mechanism. This mechanism has the patented woodpecker regulation; a stable Glashütte three-quarter plate as well as other parts developed and manufactured by Mühle-Glashütte. Moreover, the mechanism with its strongly modified design (basis is the ETA 7753) is finely decorated and is regulated in six positions.

The high-quality housing of the timepiece guarantees the reliability needed and resistance to external influences. It is designed completely for ruggedness and robustness. For maximum water resistance (to 10 bars) its component parts are connected by eight small screws. The back together with all the internal seals is screwed to the bezel through the middle section of the case. The crown is also screwed-in for optimum water resistance. And non-scratch, anti-glare sapphire crystals ensure a clear view of the face at any time.
