The new DS Podium Valjoux Chronograph is stylish proof of one’s best achievements. At the perfect meeting point between grand classics and sporty modern timepieces, and sure to match any connoisseur’s most stringent expectations, the DS Podium Valjoux is equipped with the ETA 7750 Valjoux automatic movement.
With a distinct personality spotlighted by bold, innovative design and exquisite attention to design throughout, it is a tasteful but proud statement of one’s truest fulfilment. An oversized 42mm case, a transparent case back and unwavering precision make this new timepiece a notable ally in a driven man’s best accessories.
The new DS Podium Valjoux Chronograph is a bright new embodiment of a long established tradition of automatic watchmaking, and a keen statement of your most excellent taste in dress. With a contrasting interplay of shades and surfaces, from the brushed 316L stainless steel case and horns to its brightly polished tachymeter bezel, it stands just perfectly next to a fine sport jacket or hand-finished leathers. Clever touches of exceptional design such as the bold overlap of oversized chrono counters that subtly hide a numeral or an index here or there, give any classical first impression a shake-up and sporty make-over, and a youthful, dynamic feeling.
From a purely functional standpoint, the larger, snailed silver-background counters give great precision and clarity to chronograph indications. Light, open and airy behind its non-reflecting sapphire crystal, the dial design blends classical finishing of great traditional excellence, with bold, nickelled black and oversized Arabic numerals and facetted indexes, over a silver sunray background, whose outer rim is on a light slant and graduated with a seconds scale, for precise timing operations. A bevelled double day-and-date window is placed horizontally at the three-o’clock position, strengthening the design along an axis drawn by the toothed protected crown, and adding an aesthetic counterpoint to the chrono counters.
The extremities of both the DS monogrammed crown and the chrono pushbuttons show a touch of shiny black detailing, a harmonious note to echo the black leather of the strap and the full complement of nickelled black finishing used on both HMS hands and chrono indicators. Superluminova is used on the HM hands and around the dial at all hour points, for accuracy even under dark conditions.
The transparent crystal back of the 42mm case allows the timepiece connoisseur to appreciate the finer workings of the Valjoux movement, while protecting the watch against harsh elements. Tasteful details from times of great classical form, in a modern, cutting-edge timepiece whose faultless precision is guarded by Certina’s famous DS Double Security system, ensuring the chronograph’s water-resistance down to 100m. Held proud and fast on the wrist by a black leather strap, it remains in place thanks to a folding buckle equipped with twin pushbuttons.
A slightly sportier model is also available, with a black dial, polished numerals, HM hands and indexes, red chrono hands for the 12h and 30min counters, and a brown leather strap.
