Unveiled at Baselworld 2009, the Dewitt Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode is an exceptional twin-faced wristwatch model that showcases the latest technological breakthroughs of 21st century Haute Horlogerie within an elegantly sophisticated case.
The Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode by DeWitt defines a new and genuine meaning to the traditional minute repeater complication. This limited Edition model is equipped with an extremely inventive multi-complicated movement offering a masterly demonstration of the Brand’s impressive creativity. Whereas most complications operate on separate movements, the Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode reveals three extreme complications within a single fully integrated movement.
This exceptional model that bears a 45.5cm diameter and equipped with a highly inventive movement housing a tourbillon, a minute repeater mechanism and a GMT function, can be admired and worn on any of its two articulated sides. Fitted around a dedicated axle, the twin-faced case of the Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode is 16.8mm thick and pivots at a full 360° by lateral rotation activated by pressing the watch lugs at 12 and 6 o’clock, which releases the case by pushing it back against the central axle.
On the front side of the masterpiece appears the tourbillon carriage, alongside local hours and minutes and the minute repeater. On this side, the local time striking mechanism is triggered by a push-button located at 9 o’clock on the case side.
The second side reveals the GMT function displaying the hour and minutes of the second time zone. The minute repeater mechanism can be activated at any time with the same push-button, allowing the owner of this masterpiece to hear the local time stroked while reading the second time zone. The time in the latter is set by means of a corrector at 4 o’clock.
At the heart of the timekeeper, a hand-winding mechanical movement beats at 21,600 oscillations per hour and bears the carefully and elegant Cotes de Geneve finishing’s in black gold. Designed to be waterproof up to 30 metres, the timepiece proudly shows off its sporty look thanks to a magnificent profile enhanced with a Grade 5 Titanium strap and black PVD deployant buckle.
As a result of years of technological development, the Répétition Minutes Tourbillon GMT Antipode exudes a distinctive and powerful masculine presence in harmony with the finest traditions of handcrafted horology. Made out of titanium and white gold and framed by substantial open worked lugs, the case is enhanced with a smoked sapphire crystal and an inward -facing bezel, while the DeWitt signature imperial columns face outwards.
