Vulcain is pursuing its exploration of the ocean depths by unveiling the DIVER X-TREME AUTOMATIC. Clearly belonging to the sporting world into which the brand is making noteworthy inroads, this complete measuring instrument intended for divers features a date display along with a more virile and functional design housing the new self-winding Cricket V-21 alarm movement. An additional step for Vulcain which, after the success of its famous Nautical model, is now confirming its mastery of the underwater world.
The legend lives on. The history of Vulcain, partially forged by the production of ultra high-performance diving instruments, continues this year with a new chapter combining sporting excellence, virile charm and technological breakthroughs. The key evolution of the DIVER X-TREME AUTOMATIC stems from the self-winding Cricket V-21 movement powering it.
Developed on the tried and tested basis of the legendary Cricket V-10 calibre, stemming from more than 60 years of developments and improvements, the new self-winding alarm calibre is a 12-lignes (12’’’) movement equipped with two barrels – one to supply the energy required for the hour, minute and seconds functions, and the other to drive the alarm function with its 15 to 20-second ring. It beats at 18,000 vibrations per hour and boasts a 42-hour power reserve. Comprising 257 parts, it ensures unidirectional winding by means of a bimetallic oscillating weight equipped with a ceramic ball-bearing mechanism.
A worthy heir to the famous Cricket alarm calibre that has nurtured the Vulcain legend since 1947, the Cricket V-21 movement powers hour, minute, central seconds and date functions, as well as a graduated 60-minute counter activated by a unidirectional rotating bezel. Not to mention the alarm mechanism characteristic of Vulcain watches. This concentrated blend of information now comes clothed in a sportier design than the original model.
The 44 mm diameter of the case available in a choice of steel and titanium, steel and 18K rose gold or black titanium versions appears to be boosted by the asymmetrical effect created by the fast date adjustment pushpiece at 10 o’clock and that of the alarm between 2 and 3 o’clock, extended by the winding crown between 3 and 4 o’clock.
Secured on the back by the legendary Vulcain triple case-back that enables perfect diffusion of the alarm sound under water, the case is further enhanced by the addition of one of the cases made from titanium in order to enhance the acoustics of the watch – even at a depth of 100 metres.
In addition to a distinctly masculine style, this advanced version is also distinguished by the new fluted outer rotating bezel serving as a 60-minute counter as well as new hour-markers covered with Superluminova which, along with hands also coated with luminescent material, make the DIVER X-TREME AUTOMATIC the ideal watch for underwater explorers .
