In 2009, the Saguaro Chronograph meets the stars with a variety of exclusive Gibeon iron meteorite dials, whether black, white or rose. Each meteorite fragment is unique and comes from molten planetary cores that were broken apart. This highly decorative pattern, mirror of the sky and aesthetically appreciated by collectors, confers to the timepiece a fantastic architecture full of rays of light. The styling of the 46mm Sportster Saguaro chronograph recalls the advanced chronograph designs produced by BOVET in the Art Deco era. The Saguaro self-winding chronograph is unusual in having the buttons at the top of the case at 11 and 1 on either side of the crown and bow. It makes the chronograph easier to use and provides a pleasing symmetry to the watch. The new Sportster Saguaro collection in 46mm is available in steel, 18K gold or in black PVD.

Whether black, white or golden, each meteorite fragment is unique. Practically kept intact when impacting the earth’s ground, the Gibeon meteorite, the one used for the Saguaro dials, is well-known for its quality, beauty and handiness.

The Gibeon meteorite, 4 billions years old, was first discovered in 1836 in Great Namaqualand, Namibia in Africa. Its origin comes from the asteroid string located between Mars and Jupiter, fourth and fifth planets of the solar system. The meteorites, the solar system’s memory, answer to some key issues about its birth, evolution and age. Made up of 90% of steel, 8% of nickel, 0.4% of cobalt and 0.04% of phosphorus, the Gibeon meteorite is one of the most concentrated of all, reaching a density of 8.

For the Saguaro dials, its finish is made up of several stages. First, the material has to be sawn, then polished and finally worked by acid. This process forms the very special and characteristic crystalline structure of the meteorite, known as the “ Widmanstätten ” pattern. This highly decorative pattern, mirror of the sky and aesthetically appreciated by collectors, confers to the timepiece a unique architecture full of rays of light.
