In 2009, Bovet is incorporating a specific tourbillon complication into its sports collection Sportster. The Saguaro Tourbillon enters the exclusive BOVET limited editions world (88 timepieces per model). New sizes and materials: the case is offered in three sizes: 40mm, 45mm and 51mm.
The distinctive feature of this case lies in the choice and contrast of the materials and colors. The bow, crown, bezel, back-case and strap-bolt are in 18K gold as the side-case is in black PVD titanium, conferring lightness to the timepiece as well as the limited edition engraving. Two-colored modernity with backbone: with the Saguaro Tourbillon, BOVET has engaged a real revolution where creativity and performance are intimately related. Another way of wearing a sporty-look watch is here offered to connoisseurs and enthusiasts for high watchmaking. The Art Deco bow, classic Sportster design, the black PVD titanium side-case and the dial with an openwork design display a strong modern architecture.
A display of decorative arts: the dial’s sophistication, where every element contributes to the general driving force of the timepiece, is shown through a non-reflecting sapphire glass. It is hand-chiselled in black PVD with an openwork that allows the movement to be partly visible. This specific engraving technique requires up to 10 hours of craftsmanship, conferring to the dial beautiful lights and shades. The dial is also offered in a black poli-bloqué.
The index design, with its Art Deco geometric shape recalls the “Lotus Flower”, emblem of BOVET. The rose gold applied index can be visible in the night thanks to its white luminova centers. The red openworked hours and minutes hands also guarantee a night readability thanks to their luminescent tips. Last but not least, the 7 days power reserve is indicated by a luminescent counter at 9 o’clock.
A movement that keeps the dream alive: the Saguaro Tourbillon is fitted with an in-house tourbillon, the 13BA05 self-winding calibre with a power reserve of 7 days (168 hours). This tourbillon movement houses the majority of the tourbillon timepieces of the Fleurier collection. As for the Saguaro Tourbillon, the artisans of DIMIER 1738 have imagined and developed a very special decoration.
When looking at the dial, the movement is surface finished with straight Côtes de Genève. The case-back side of the movement is also decorated with straight Côtes de Genève, but blackened. The 22K gold winding rotor, with its Art Deco design and openwork, is beautifully hand-chiselled. The tourbillon bridges at 3 o’clock recall the bow shape and meet up with the strong geometric spirit of the timepiece. The open case-back, characteristic of BOVET timekeepers, reveals the stunning beauty of the movement.
Fitted with a black rubber strap or an alligator hand-stitched strap (for the 40mm model), the Saguaro Tourbillon is water-resistant up to 300 meters. Limited Edition of 88 timepieces per model, the strength and power of this new Sportster will fulfil collectors and aficionados wishes.
