Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph

The design of the Aqua Terra Chronograph models dates back to 1957, a somewhat mythical year for Omega, since it saw the launch of both the original Railmaster and the now legendary Speedmaster models.

Launched in 2002, the Seamaster Aqua Terra collection – based on the original Railmaster design – offers a wide variety of gents’ and ladies’ models in different case sizes. In 2004, Omega enhanced the Seamaster Aqua Terra collection with a new chronograph version.

The Aqua Terra Chronograph is available with an opaline-silver dial or polished black lacquered dial. The former has blued-steel hands and facetted triangular blued-steel hour markers; the latter is combined with rhodium-plated hands and hour markers to give a sleek look.

The small-seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, the 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock are each adorned with elegant hands with a counterweight, testament to the minute attention to detail of the company’s designers.

A date window at 6 o’clock is another distinguishing feature of the Aqua Terra Chronograph, whilst the luminous Dauphine hands – and the arrowhead minute hand in particular – are characteristic of the entire Aqua Terra collection.

The Aqua Terra Chronograph is powered by the Omega calibre 3301 self-winding chronometer-chronograph movement. With its 55-hour power reserve, official chronometer certification and column-wheel mechanism, this calibre is not only one of the most prestigious chronograph movements in the company’s collection; it is also a rarity on the market in general.

The calibre 3301 is also fitted with Omega’s proprietary free sprung-balance without index, which avoids the disturbing effects of contact between the balance-spring and the index pins and therefore ensures stability of the watch’s going rate over long periods of use.

This Omega watch comes with a choice of stainless-steel bracelet and black or brown alligator leather straps with push-button operated stainless-steel fold-over clasps.

The Omega Aqua Terra Chronographs naturally have the same high-quality standards as all Seamaster models, including a screw-in crown and case back that ensure water resistance to 150 metres and a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the inside.
