Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2008 Chronograph

Distinguished, powerful and yet understated, the “Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2008” watch subtly combines both a classic and a sporty look.

As a COSC-certified chronometer, the movement of this time-measuring machine powers a high-precision chronograph. The ballet of hands it triggers is performed on a dial certain to appeal to connoisseurs, with its traditionally styled, vertically aligned counters teamed with a black tachometer bezel.

The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2008 chronograph is distinguished by its generous 42.5 mm diameter case, water-resistant to 50 metres. Its powerful, classical lines house a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement which is chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), a guarantee of absolute precision.

Endowed with a 48-hour power reserve, this movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and displays the hours and minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock, as well as a date aperture and chronograph functions.

A case-back engraved with the logo of the “Automobile Club de Monaco” and the letters GPMH serves to hold the watch together and to protect its precious contents. In a subtle finishing touch, the crown is adorned with a racing steering wheel to ensure a complete immersion into the automotive world.

The classic nature of the model is also expressed through its perfectly balanced silver-coloured dial with bevelled hour-markers and an engraved inscription that reads “Monaco Historique”.

For optimal readability and a clear distinction between the chronograph functions, the 30-minute counter (at 12 o’clock) and the 12-hour counter (at 6 o’clock) stand out in black, as does the tachometer bezel serving to measure travel speeds . In order to ensure perfect visibility in the dark, the rhodium-plated hour and minute hands are enhanced with Superluminova.

The “Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2008” chronograph is available in stainless steel with a black barenia strap or stainless steel bracelet, or in 18-carat rose gold with a crocodile strap, a luxurious version limited to only 500 watches.

In both cases, the straps are fitted with a folding clasp in stainless steel or 18-carat rose gold.
