Dedicated to women, both the Starissime Tourbillon El Primero and the Starissime Tourbillon Hours & Minutes represent the quintessence of watchmaking, because they bring together the famous El Primero movement and the Tourbillon.
The El Primero movement is the only chronograph in the world with a heart that beats at 36,000 vibrations an hour, thus offering tenth of a second accuracy. And the Tourbillon means freedom from the effects of the earth’s gravity because the escapement is enclosed in the Tourbillon gyroscopic cage.
In order to transmit the power required by the high frequency of its tourbillons as efficiently as possible, ZENITH has chosen to keep a straight line escapement, so that the balance wheel is slightly off-centre in the cage. ZENITH tourbillons therefore preserve the power of the El Primero, thus greatly improving a precision that is already remarkable.
In addition to the technical feats of these two models, there is all the poetry these precious pieces radiate. The greatest watchmaking complication in its finest setting: The Zenith Starissime Tourbillon El Primero is set off by 230 top Wesselton diamonds totalling 9.8 carats.
Its 40.5mm case sparkles with 117 baguette diamonds whilst 113 round diamonds light up the white Bali mother-of-pearl dial in a symphony of numerals that is almost enough to make us believe in eternity. The bridge of the Tourbillon cage is embellished with a diamond star invisibly set into it using a patented process.
As for the hours and minutes tourbillon watch, it is distinctive because of the smaller 37.5mm case ornamented with 111 baguette diamonds and a white mother-of-pearl dial decorated with a comet flashing through the sky and interlaced numerals scattered with brilliant-cut diamonds, the whole totalling 7.9 carats.
