Equally at home 300 metres below or out of the water, the new Fifty Fathoms models feature contrasting white and black shades tailor made to adorn the wrists of sporting style enthusiasts.
Blancpain unveils a brand-new Fifty Fathoms Automatique watch imbued with the brand’s trademark understated elegance. Making a striking contrast with its black predecessors, it radiantly reveals its sporting assets through an immaculate white exterior blending tradition and innovation with pure, sleek lines. In keeping with its tradition of innovation, Blancpain has interpreted the instantly recognisable design of the Fifty Fathoms in the emblematic colour of purity.
Crafted in scratch-resistant sapphire, the unidirectional rotating bezel avoids any risk of accidentally prolonging the dive time, The 45 mm-diameter steel case, equipped with crown guards, houses the sturdy Blancpain Calibre 1315 with a five-day power reserve.
Echoing the matt white dial background, the white shade of the luminescent coating applied to trapeze-shaped hour-markers and hands in rhodium plated gold, as well as the pearly grey Luminova of the markings on the bezel, reveal their fluorescent green colour only in the half-light or the darkness of the ocean depths. This new Fifty Fathoms is equipped with a sturdy, sporty and water resistant strap complete with pin buckle and made from rubber-lined white sail canvas.
The oscillating weight specially designed for the new Fifty Fathoms models is shaped like a nautilus. This cephalopod, a distant relative of the now-extinct ammonite, is estimated to have lived in the sea for the past 400 million years. By varying the proportion of gas and liquid contained within the spiral shapes of its shell, the nautilus can rise up through the water or sink down again to explore new hunting grounds.
The new Fifty Fathoms models are henceforth equipped with a sapphire crystal case-back revealing the beauty and the complexity of its 222- part movement, yet without compromising its water resistance to 300 metres. Self-winding Calibre 1315 features finishing worthy of the grand watchmaking traditions: hand-drawn file strokes, bevelling, circular graining, circular satin brushing. The large rubies are driven directly into the bridges and plates so as to preserve the visual magic of traditional movements.
The Fifty Fathoms still has plenty of surprises in store for admirers, as it appears decked out in new colours and luxurious finishes, to the delight of devotees of fine mechanical watchmaking. Blancpain now presents an all-black version of the Fifty Fathoms, with the exclusive Blancpain Calibre 1315 now housed within a polished steel case clothed in a jet-black exterior.
The black dial of the Fifty Fathoms, protected by a slightly cambered scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, features cone-shaped hands, hour-markers and cone-shaped sporty numerals in rhodium-plated and polished steel coated with a luminescent black material.
The 45 mm case of this latest addition to the Sport collection is equipped with a sapphire crystal case-back enabling one to admire the self-winding movement and its nautilus-shaped oscillating weight. The screw-lock crown and case-back ensure perfect water resistance to 300 metres, while the sail canvas strap is fitted with a black steel buckle.
