Ebel 1911 Discovery Collection

Dynamic contemporary men in touch with their times naturally look for a quality watch suited to daily wear in their busy lives, easy to wear and yet well-crafted and endowed with a distinctive design. With just such individuals in mind, in 2007 Ebel proudly introduced its evocatively named 1911 Discovery.

First launched in 1986 to mark the 75th anniversary of the company founding date, the recently updated and enriched 1911 line signals Ebel’s grand comeback to the field of masculine watches. It now represents the ultimate men’s line specially redesigned and revamped to match contemporary tastes. The new 1911 Discovery is the “younger brother” of the prestigious 1911 BTR line exclusively powered by proprietary Ebel movements and launched in 2006. Slightly smaller, more overtly sporty and resolutely youthful by nature, it is powered by an extremely reliable COSC-certified self-winding ETA movement, thus making it more accessible to young men with a taste for fine watchmaking.

This vigorous model clearly displays the signature features of the 1911 line. These include its hexagonal case with five visible screws, through to the immediately recognizable ultra-flexible Ebel bracelet, polished/brushed finishing and impeccable wearer comfort – a pleasant sensation further enhanced by the perfect integration of the case and bracelet ensuring a smoother fit on the wrist and a well-balanced aesthetic appeal.

The go-getter attitude Water-resistant to 10 ATM, the 43 mm case houses an automatic chronograph movement powering the hour and minute hands, three hand-applied chronograph counters and ultra-readable date/day displays. Protected by a sapphire crystal with antiglare treatment on both sides that further enhances its sharp legibility, the dial exudes a decidedly sporty look with its eye-catching counter backgrounds, color-coded chronograph hands, sophisticated hand-applied hour-markers and aluminum tachometric scale on the surrounding bezel.

This dynamic aura is further reinforced by the screw-lock crown, together with the pushers with their sporty notched-profile guards, and by the Super-LumiNova coating on the distinctively shaped hour and minute hands as well as the 12 squares on the flange, applied to ensure optimal visibility in the dark. So as to cater to a wide range of personal tastes, the new 1911 Discovery line encompasses five models: four in steel with a rubber or calfskin strap or a bracelet, and one in gold and steel on a bracelet only, while the elegant dials come in a choice of black with black counters or silver with slate grey counter rims.
